Testing method of some new synthetized chemical structures for evaluation of their basic bactericidal activity

Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the basic bactericidal activity of two newly synthesized chemical structures. Material and method: Two newly synthesized chemical structures which belong of quaternary ammonium compounds class have been tested using an adapted method to the SR EN1040: <Quantitative suspension test  for the evaluation of basic bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectants and  antiseptics. ( Phase 1)>

To state a chemical structure as having bactericidal activity, this product must demonstrate a decimal reduction of 5 log on at least two test microorganisms Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 15442 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 at 200 C, after 5 minutes contact time, whether the basic limits of the method are met.
In addition, the newly synthesized chemical structures were compared with another disinfectant from the same chemical class using the diffusion method, based on graduated responses. The results were evaluated by statistical test 2+2, where were expected at least 80% microbicidal activities. The disinfectant against which were compared was Biocide X. This disinfectant is known as having a corresponding activity.
Results: The results of ME (microbicidal effect) showed decimal reduction less than 5 log for both tested strains and a bactericidal activity less than 80%.
Conclusions: The study can be concluded that the structures considered for the study do not justify further evaluation of antibacterial activity according to the methods of evaluation of phase 2 and phase 3 in line with European standards for chemical disinfectants and antiseptics.
